General Rules for Riders and Spectators
DEFRA may require competitors to produce their horse passport at any time.
Cockington Riding Club insists that hard hats which conform to a minimum BSI
standard of PAS015, SNELL E2001 or AS/NZS3838 MUST be worn, correctly
fastened, by any person who is mounted whilst on the showground.
All competitors are recommended to have 3rd party insurance.
All cars parked at owners’ risk. No cars on main show field past the warm up area
except committee members, blue badge holders and judges’ vehicles.
Dogs must be kept on leads at all times & dog poo to be cleared up by the owner.
No mucking out of lorries and trailers allowed on the show field please take it home with
you.
No cantering or galloping outside rings when on the show field.
Riders must leave the
ring at a walk at all times.
The committee reserve the right to refuse any entry to protect the welfare of any
horse/pony.
The committee reserve the right to limit entries to control class sizes.
Classes may be
cancelled or amalgamated if insufficient entries.
Judges names are not printed in the schedule we will aim to post judge’s names to
Facebook NO earlier than the week before the event. However if you are worried
about being able to show under a particular judge you are welcome to contact a
committee member the week before the show.
No change of saddlery allowed between phases in the Working Hunter ring. Horses
may wear FRONT boots ONLY for the jumping phase.
All competitors and horses / ponies must be correctly dressed for their classes. Practicing in any ring will lead to disqualification from the days’ events unless it is a
marked / designated warming up area.
No artificial aids for example, balancing reins, grass reins, side/draw reins.
Martingales permitted for jumping only.
Schooling whips to only be used for dressage.
Any abuse of whips/spurs at any event will result in expulsion from the venue.
No
whips or spurs in gymkhana rings or handy pony classes.
No junior 13 years and under
are allowed to wear spurs in any classes. Unless prior permission sought through the
committee.
All Suitability, Lead Rein and First Ridden classes must be ridden in snaffle bridles with
cavesson nosebands only.
Lead reins must be attached ONLY to the noseband.
The committee strongly advises that competitors taking part in Jump Cross events wear
a suitable back protector.
Members must have paid their subscription before entering any class on day of show
for points to count towards cups, or to be eligible for members’ awards.
First aid must be paid at each show anyone abusing this will lose any points they have
been awarded.
The judge’s decision is always final.
Any complaints must be registered at the entries caravan and accompanied by a
deposit of £20.00 refundable only if the complaint is upheld after consideration by a
minimum of 3 committee members.
If competitors require rosettes/dressage sheets to be forwarded to them after the
event, it is their responsibility to leave a large SAE or £2 at the caravan before leaving
the show field.
Maximum of 6 classes per show can be entered per horse (not including
Gymkhana or Thelwell) if this rule is not adhered too, you may be asked to leave
the show ground.
Well behaved Stallions / Colts are welcome but may be asked to leave if they are
causing disruption to other competitors.
Ridden horses must be 4 years of age or over on day of show.
Minimum age of 3 years old for a rider (age on the day of the show.
